 This course, with its exercises, takes you through the various basic aspects of QuickBooks Pro 2009, such as:

  • Opening and setting up a new company file
  • Setting Preferences – with suggestions for the most common settings
  • Items, Lists, & Forms – what they are, why they are necessary, and how they work
  • The Fixed Asset Item List
  • How to use Classes
  • Setting up Customers, Vendors, and Employees
  • Entering transactions using purchase orders, accounts payable bills, customer invoices, payroll timesheets, and journal entries
  • Customizing QuickBooks Forms to create a professional appearance
  • Reports and Graphs, with ways to extend your capabilities

Course Objective:

 

  •  Gain an understanding of how Quickbooks works and to be able to utilize it effectively

Learning Objective:

Upon completion of QuickBooks Pro 2009, the student will be able to:

  • identify, compare, and evaluate QuickBooks versions, and determine if QuickBooks meets company needs;
  • use QuickBooks to set up a new company file;
  • identify basic elements of the QuickBooks Home page, define the role of lists and forms, and specify preference settings;
  • identify features of the Chart of Accounts list, distinguish between accounts and subaccounts, locate non-posting accounts and contrast them to posting accounts;
  • demonstrate how to classify and organize the Items list;
  • describe QuickBooks payroll features and recommend from alternatives, employ user-defined fields to customize information, and demonstrate how to setup payroll information in QuickBooks;
  • identify the basic elements of modifiable QuickBooks forms, and demonstrate how to use form options to modify and design these forms so that they better meet the needs of the enterprise;
  • illustrate how to enter transactions in QuickBooks, use QuickBooks Fixed Asset control features, and demonstrate how to memorize and print transactions in QuickBooks;
  • explain how to use the QuickBooks bank reconciliation feature, describe the options available, and determine the best approach for entering credit card transactions into QuickBooks; and
  • utilize reports and graphs features available in QuickBooks, demonstrate how to export report data, and describe QuickBooks file maintenance utilities.
